TESOL Core Certificate Program Foundations Course

Part 1. Foundations Course is the foundation course for the program. Subsequent courses focus on teaching young learners (in an English as a foreign language or EFL environment) and adult language learners in English as a second language (ESL) and EFL contexts. Objectives Upon completing this course, participants will • understand the nature of language. • understand various conceptions of language acquisition. • understand historical and current approaches to language teaching. • understand the importance of knowing about the structure of the English language and be equipped to pursue ongoing language development. • be able to use appropriate strategies and select appropriate teaching techniques for different English learning contexts. • be able to prepare an effective lesson plan for a specific English learning context. • be knowledgeable about the field of TESOL and understand essential terms and acronyms in this field.
