Fundamentals of TESOL (Self-Study)

This course provides general theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for prospective and newly practicing ESL/EFL teachers. It familiarizes the participants with theoretical and practical aspects of language, language learning, teaching methodology, and classroom practice. Course Objectives. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will: understand the nature of language. understand various conceptions of language acquisition. understand historical and current approaches to language teaching. understand the importance of knowing about the structure of the English language and be equipped to pursue ongoing language development. be able to use appropriate strategies and select appropriate teaching techniques for different English learning contexts. be able to prepare an effective lesson plan for a specific English learning context. be knowledgeable about the field of TESOL and understand important terms and acronyms in this field.
